Second year of graduate school has been going well. I've set a lot of goals for my flute playing and teaching and feel like I'm making progress. A couple performing highlights were playing Shostakovich 5 and Carmina Burana with the ISU Orchestra and participating in more recording with the Wind Symphony at ISU.
Because of plans with my husband's job, I am looking to stay a third year at ISU. I look at it as another year of getting to teach, play in great ensembles, and work on my skills. So as of now, my plans are to graduate in May of 2012 and we will then hopefully head back up to the Chicago suburbs!
This semester brings a lot of exciting performances. I am performing a flute and guitar recital later this month as well as a solo flute recital in April. The woodwind quintet I am in is currently working on the Poulenc Sextet which is very exciting. The orchestra pit is getting ready for a run of How to Succeed in Business without Really Trying. And those are just a few highlights! It will be a crazy semester but definitely a good one!
Currently listening to: Scheherazade (Rimsky-Korsakov), Griffes "Poem", Zyman "Sonata for Flute and Piano"
